We aim to be a community where everyone is treated fairly and with respect. We want everyone to flourish and reach their potential, and we recognise that for some pupils’ extra support is needed to help them to achieve and be successful.
We take seriously our duties to eliminate discrimination, promote equality of opportunity and foster good relations between people of all backgrounds. This duty is set out in the Equality Act of 2010, which covers sex, race, disability, religion or belief, sexual orientation, gender reassignment and pregnancy or maternity.
The Equality Act became law in 2010. It covers everyone in Britain and protects people from discrimination, harassment, and victimisation. Everyone in Britain is protected. This is because the Equality Act protects people against discrimination because of the protected characteristics that we all have.
